MY 'GREEN' ST. PATRICK'S DAY HAUL

One of my LQS was having a sale yesterday....FQs that were predominately green were only $1.70 each, including batiks...which are normally $3.00 each (a couple don't look very green in the pic but the saleslady said if she could see green, then they were green)!!!  Well, I just couldn't resist since the price was so good, but also because I realized I don't have that much green in my stash.  These are the yummy batiks I chose...now what to make with them?

PRAIRIE POINT TABLE RUNNER

When I purchased the kit for this runner last year I was just learning how to quilt. It got set aside while I practiced making different projects and tried my hand at FMQ.  I finally had the chance to open it up a couple of days ago and I have to say that it was so much fun to do.  It uses 36 charm squares (this one was Lilac Hill from Moda), some yardage for the backing (cute bird print) and 18 assorted buttons. Everything was included in the kit (it was good that I waited to try it because the pattern was a bit confusing...I think the LQS I purchased it from just assumed everyone would know what to do and left out some important info). I loved making the prairie points and definitely plan to add some to other projects as a fun touch. Hand sewing all those buttons on seemed to take as long as it did to create the runner...good thing there were some interesting shows on tv last night :o)

NORMAN THE COW...RIP Placemats

A friend has been telling us about the cow her husband has been taking care of for the owner. She said that very soon Norman (that's what they named the cow) will be 'taken away' (if you know what I mean). We've been teasing her about helping Norman escape, how her husband will really miss him, etc.  I decided to make some place mats for them to use when they are 'chowing down' on Norman!  While I was shopping with a friend I managed to find some fabric with black and white 'cows' (the color of Norman) and other farmyard critters. The back is a red and white checked print (think..picnic tablecloth). I did some loop de loop quilting and then added a twill ribbon on the back of each one that I embroidered with my Janome...it says: Norman RIP and will tell her it means Norman...'Rest In Pieces'. (a bit sick I know, lol!!!)..... Gave them to her today and she loved them!!!

LOOK WHAT JUST ARRIVED!!!

When I opened the box look what I found inside....all these yummy fat quarters that I won from Kiera at It's So Kiki.....33 of them..one of each collection print...WOW!!! This is a new collection of fabric from Connecting Threads called Sweetgrass Prairie. The designs and soft, vintage colors are just so pretty and I love the 'cheater' hexagon print!! Now, I just have to decide what I'm going to create with them (after I stop drooling over them... lol). Thanks again to Kiera and Connecting Threads for this amazing giveaway!!!
